Job Title: Employability Tutor
Location: National Delivery (own transport required)

Role Overview:

The Employability Tutor will play a critical role in delivering high-quality training to unemployed individuals, helping them develop essential skills to enter or return to the workforce. The role involves delivering accredited qualifications up to Level 2 in various sectors such as Lean Organisation Management, Facilities, Cleaning, Employability, and Environmental, while also embedding core life skills like English, Maths, and ICT into the learning experience. This role requires someone with strong interpersonal skills, a passion for education, and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. You will also need to demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to meet the needs of both the learners and the business.

The tutor will be required to hold a full teaching certificate, an assessor qualification (or be working towards one), and have experience in delivering vocational courses. There will be a focus on delivering classroom-based employability programmes and supporting learners from all backgrounds in achieving their qualifications and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • DBS Certification: Must be subject to an enhanced DBS check, ensuring a safe learning environment for all candidates.
  • Safeguarding and Well-being: Ensure the safeguarding of candidates by adhering to safeguarding protocols, providing a secure learning environment, and identifying learners’ individual needs.
  • Classroom-Based Training Delivery: Facilitate interactive classroom-based employability courses, ensuring that learning materials are engaging and meet learners’ needs.
  • Vocational Course Delivery: Deliver a variety of short vocational courses and qualifications, focusing on sectors such as Lean Management, Facilities, Cleaning, and Environmental.
  • Adaptable Teaching: Interpret knowledge and deliver training in a way that is accessible to learners of all levels, offering personalised support where necessary.
  • Goal-Oriented Support: Work closely with learners to set and achieve specific goals, providing continuous support throughout the programme.
  • Wider Topics Integration: Embed key social themes such as Safeguarding, Prevent, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), and British values within the curriculum to promote a holistic learning experience.
  • Core Skills Development: Incorporate Maths, English, and ICT into the learning process to enhance learners’ core competencies.
  • Practical Vocational Skills: Demonstrate practical applications of vocational subjects, helping learners to relate course content to real-life scenarios.
  • Material Development: Adapt and develop engaging learning materials to suit the needs of diverse learners.
  • Feedback and Progress Monitoring: Continuously assess learners’ progress, offering constructive feedback to ensure they meet learning outcomes.
  • Administration: Complete attendance records, prepare necessary documentation for tracking learner progress, and ensure compliance with administrative tasks.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain a safe learning environment by adhering to all health and safety regulations, ensuring that both learners and staff work in a secure and well-maintained space.
  • Best Practice Sharing: Participate in standardisation meetings and collaborate with colleagues to share resources, insights, and best practices in training and assessment.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all necessary compliance paperwork and reviews are completed accurately and on time, in line with the organisation’s procedures.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Be flexible in meeting the needs of the business, adapting to changing circumstances and course requirements as necessary.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Full Teaching Qualification: Must hold a recognised teaching certificate (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent).
  • Assessor Qualification: Ideally, hold or be working towards A1/TAQA/D32/33 Assessor qualifications to enable the assessment of learners’ practical skills.
  • Vocational Course Delivery: Experience in delivering qualifications in sectors such as Lean Organisation Management, Facilities, Cleaning, Employability, and Environmental, with a focus on helping learners develop employability skills.
  • Workplace Training Experience: Previous experience in delivering training within a workplace environment, ideally in sectors such as manufacturing, warehousing, or cleaning.
  • Compliance and Administration: Understanding of compliance paperwork, learner reviews, and experience in managing learner data and reporting.
  • Industrial Experience: Relevant experience in industrial sectors such as warehouse, manufacturing, or cleaning.
  • Health and Safety Awareness: Good knowledge of health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe training environment for all learners.
  • Commitment to Education Values: Demonstrate behaviour that is consistent with the values of education, with a commitment to safeguarding, equality, and inclusivity.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development, attending relevant training, and staying informed on new educational practices and legislative requirements.

Additional Requirements:

  • Own Transport: As the role requires national delivery, the candidate must have their own transport to travel to different learning sites.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to different locations as required by the business and learner needs.
