Main Duties & Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of up to 25 clients who are motivated to start or return to work and have health-related support needs
  • Deliver the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach, ensuring high-quality, fidelity-driven delivery (full IPS training provided)
  • Work 1:1 with clients to explore skills, experience, aspirations, and career goals through completion of a Vocational Profile
  • Co-produce tailored Action Plans to support clients into competitive employment, including:
    • Job search and applications
    • CV development
    • Interview preparation
    • Career planning and progression
  • Assess and respond to work-related support needs, including benefits advice, workplace adjustments, and support with health disclosure
  • Attend regular multidisciplinary team meetings as an embedded IPS practitioner, contributing to joined-up, holistic support
  • Proactively source job opportunities through direct employer engagement, accessing both advertised roles and the hidden labour market
  • Educate and support employers, including negotiating reasonable adjustments, return-to-work strategies, and ongoing in-work support to maximise job retention
  • Build strong relationships with clinical colleagues and partner organisations to promote the service, generate referrals, and embed employment as a recovery intervention
  • Provide ongoing in-work support once employment is secured, including regular check-ins with both clients and employers
  • Maintain accurate, timely case notes and performance data in line with administrative and data capture requirements
  • Work independently, managing your time effectively while delivering consistent, high-quality IPS practice

 

Quality, Development & Compliance

  • Adhere to monitoring and evaluation systems, keeping up to date with best practice in vocational rehabilitation
  • Gather and act on service user feedback to support continuous service improvement
  • Collect and share employment recovery stories to celebrate success and promote impact
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, including information governance, safeguarding, and data protection
  • Actively engage in continuous learning around health conditions, their impact on work, and reasonable workplace adjustments
  • Undertake mandatory training as required
  • Work flexibly to meet service and client needs

 

Relationship Management

You will establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clinical teams, employers, and external partners, including:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with local employers and managing employer engagement records
  • Meeting regularly with clients to review progress before and after employment
  • Developing a strong understanding of local labour markets to negotiate roles that align with individual strengths, needs, and preferences
  • Challenging inequalities and addressing barriers faced by clients, promoting inclusive employment practices
  • Working creatively with employers to reduce workplace barriers, including exploring job carving opportunities
  • Developing effective partnerships with external agencies such as colleges, training providers, and community organisations
