Head of Operations – Restart Scheme and Employability Programmes

About the Role

As the Head of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the delivery and performance of our Restart Scheme and other employability programmes. Leading a team of dedicated Operations Managers across multiple sites, you will ensure that our services are standardised, optimised, and consistently exceed performance targets. Your leadership will foster a culture of excellence, driving high-quality service delivery and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management: Inspire and manage Operations Managers to achieve challenging targets, ensuring high performance and addressing any underperformance proactively.
  • Performance & Compliance: Oversee the delivery of key performance indicators, service level agreements, and customer service standards across all sites, ensuring adherence to contractual requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote the development and continuous improvement of our operations and services, leveraging best practices across the network.
  • Collaboration: Build effective relationships with senior management, corporate services, and external partners to support seamless service delivery.
  • Problem Solving: Take accountability for resolving operational, contractual, and performance risks and issues.
  • Reporting: Analyse contract performance data and run system-generated reports to ensure effectiveness.
  • People Development: Support and develop your team, promoting training opportunities and addressing capability gaps to enhance overall performance.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Extensive leadership and people management experience within the employability sector.
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 5 or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in managing employability programmes, operations, and contract delivery.
  • Experience in leading high-performing teams and driving performance through detailed management information analysis.
  • Proficiency in resource planning and recruitment processes.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build collaborative relationships at all levels.
  • High computer literacy, particularly in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and confidentiality.

Special Features of the Role

  • This is a home-based role, requiring national travel to various delivery sites across the Midlands, North West, Wales, and London.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of participants, with the possibility of an enhanced DBS check.
