Professional Development Trainer – Apprenticeships

This is not just a training role — you will also serve as a mentor to learners, guiding them through the process of evidencing their skills and knowledge via assignments that reflect their learning journey. You will work alongside Senior Trainers, Curriculum teams, and Internal Quality Assurers (IQA) to continually refine and develop training methodologies and materials, ensuring they meet the diverse needs of learners. Adaptability is key in this role, as you’ll tailor training approaches to individual needs and incorporate new and creative ways of working, all while maintaining a high standard of delivery.

Key Responsibilities

As part of your role, you will:

  • Foster an engaging learning environment that caters to various learning styles, keeping learners motivated and inspired.
  • Adapt training for online delivery, ensuring it remains interactive, accessible, and effective.
  • Review and maintain curriculum content, including training slides and learning resources, to ensure they remain relevant and up-to-date.
  • Provide constructive feedback to learners on their assignments, helping them develop and progress.
  • Understand and apply the Education Inspection Framework to ensure compliance with Ofsted’s good practice standards.
  • Communicate regularly with the Apprenticeship team and Career Support team to track learner progress and address any concerns.
  • Assist in the development of new initiatives and training methods that will enhance learner outcomes and keep the content fresh and impactful.
  • Ensure training is of the highest quality, reflecting the company’s commitment to providing market-leading Apprenticeship and Commercial solutions.
  • Maintain awareness of best practices in areas such as Health and Safety, Safeguarding, and Equal Opportunities, ensuring that relevant policies are implemented.

Candidate Requirements

  • Has experience in guiding learners through progressive stages of development and assessing their skills.
  • Is a team player, willing to collaborate with colleagues to achieve collective goals.
  • Possesses strong training, assessment, and reporting skills, with the ability to provide effective feedback to help learners improve.
  • Communicates effectively and confidently with learners and colleagues.
  • Has excellent administrative skills and is adaptable in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Timely achievement of learner goals.
  • Prompt and thorough marking of assignments.
  • Regular observations of teaching and learning activities.
  • Positive feedback from learner satisfaction surveys.

Essential Qualifications/Experience

Teaching Qualifications:

  • PGCE, CertEd, QTS, or a Level 4 Teaching qualification
    OR
  • Level 3 Teaching qualification with the willingness to progress to Level 4 within 6 months.
  • Level 3 Assessors qualification (or working towards in the first 6 months).

Maths & English Qualifications:

  • English Level 2 or above (e.g., GCSE A*-C, GCSE 9-4, F/S Level 2, Key Skills L2 or 3).
  • Maths Level 2 or above (e.g., GCSE A*-C, GCSE 9-4, F/S Level 2, Key Skills L2 or 3).

Technical Competency:

  • A degree or higher in a relevant subject.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ industry experience with appropriate qualifications.
    OR
  • A qualification at least one level above the level of the courses you will be teaching in the relevant subject area.
  • Additional technical certificates demonstrating job role competence.

Experience:

  • Teaching experience in Management, Human Resource Management, Learning and Development, Training, Education, or Coaching.
  • A qualification in the subject area you are teaching.
