Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Employment Specialist to join our client, delivering the Connect to Work programme across Hertfordshire.

This programme supports individuals facing barriers to employment, including those with disabilities, long-term health conditions, or complex life challenges, helping them move into sustainable, meaningful work.

This is a rewarding, people-focused role where you will see the direct impact of your work in helping individuals achieve employment outcomes.


Hybrid & Community-Based Role

This is a hybrid, mobile position combining community-based work with administrative responsibilities.

You will:

  • Travel regularly across Hertfordshire to meet participants, employers, and partner organisations
  • Conduct meetings in community settings, health environments, and workplaces
  • Complete admin tasks remotely

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.


Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Manage a caseload of participants seeking employment
  • Meet individuals regularly to understand their skills, strengths, and career goals
  • Develop vocational profiles and tailored action plans
  • Provide support with job searching, CV writing, and interview preparation
  • Deliver in-work support to help sustain employment
  • Maintain accurate records and performance data

Your focus will be supporting individuals into employment quickly, with the right support in place.


Employer Engagement

You will also play a key role in building relationships with local employers by:

  • Identifying suitable job opportunities for participants
  • Promoting inclusive recruitment practices
  • Supporting employers with reasonable adjustments
  • Providing ongoing support once employment begins

Partnership Working

You will work collaboratively with a range of external partners, including:

  • Health services and primary care teams
  • Jobcentre Plus
  • Local authorities
  • Training providers
  • Community and voluntary organisations

Strong partnership working is essential to creating effective employment pathways.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting individuals, customers, or clients in a caseload or target-driven environment
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence engaging with employers and external partners
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • A positive, proactive approach and belief in people’s potential
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)

Full training in the IPS (Individual Placement and Support) model will be provided.
