IPS Team Manager

In this rewarding leadership role, you’ll oversee the delivery of a high-quality Individual Placement and Support (IPS) service, ensuring best practice, strong stakeholder relationships and positive employment outcomes. You’ll play a key role in developing your team, driving performance and ensuring individuals receive tailored support that reflects their strengths, preferences and aspirations.

The Role

As an IPS Team Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the effective day-to-day management of the service, supporting your team to deliver outstanding outcomes while maintaining fidelity to the IPS model.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and developing a high-quality IPS service in line with established best practice and Fidelity standards.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders to generate referrals and develop a consistent referral pipeline.
  • Attending multidisciplinary team meetings and delivering presentations to raise awareness of the service and promote its benefits.
  • Monitoring the performance of Employment Specialists, providing regular supervision, coaching and guidance to support individual and team employment targets.
  • Supporting the design and delivery of internal training and development, encouraging peer learning and the sharing of best practice.
  • Coordinating regional activity to strengthen employer engagement, access the hidden labour market, build relationships with external agencies and facilitate job-search groups.
  • Developing relationships with local employers to identify and negotiate suitable job opportunities that reflect each individual’s strengths, needs, abilities and preferences.
  • Working collaboratively with employers to provide appropriate education and support, including negotiating workplace adjustments, developing return-to-work strategies and maintaining ongoing contact to support job retention.
  • Ensuring individuals receive personalised, practical support to overcome barriers and progress into sustainable paid employment.

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from candidates who combine strong leadership skills with a genuine commitment to supporting people with health-related needs into employment.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • A degree-level qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience of managing, supervising or developing a team, ideally within employment support, health, social care or a related service.
  • A good understanding of the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, with formal IPS training being desirable.
  • An understanding of the employment barriers and challenges faced by people experiencing health difficulties.
  • Experience of, or an understanding of, working with individuals with health-related support needs or similar client groups within health services, social services or the voluntary sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting, supportive and productive relationships with individuals, colleagues, employers and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to work independently, use initiative and take a proactive approach to developing and promoting a service.
  • Strong organisational and performance management skills, with the ability to motivate a team and maintain a focus on achieving positive employment outcomes.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. Alternative travel arrangements and reasonable adjustments will be considered where appropriate.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an excellent opportunity for a committed employment support professional to take on a leadership role where their work can have a genuine impact on people’s lives.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop a team of Employment Specialists, strengthen relationships across health and employment services, and help more individuals overcome barriers to work and achieve greater independence through sustainable employment.

If you’re passionate about people, thrive on developing others and want to make a meaningful difference through employment, we’d welcome the opportunity to hear from you.
