Business Development Manager – Housing Apprenticeships

£40,000 basic salary + excellent commission | UK-wide opportunity

The Opportunity

Do you understand the housing sector? Know the challenges facing housing associations, property managers and letting agencies? And can you turn that knowledge into commercial opportunities?

My client is looking for a Business Development Manager with genuine housing sector knowledge to grow its apprenticeship provision across the UK.

This is a specialist business development role, and we’re not simply looking for a salesperson who can pick up a list of prospects and start making calls. We want someone who understands the housing market, the pressures facing employers and the skills required to operate successfully in the sector.

You’ll use that knowledge to develop meaningful relationships with housing associations, letting agencies and other relevant organisations, showing them how funded apprenticeship training can support their workforce, address skills gaps and contribute to organisational objectives.

With a £40,000 basic salary and an excellent commission structure, this is an opportunity for someone who can combine sector expertise with commercial drive.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for identifying, developing and converting new business opportunities across the housing market.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and targeting housing associations, registered providers, letting agencies and other relevant housing organisations.
  • Building relationships with senior decision-makers, including HR directors, learning and development teams, operational leaders and housing management professionals.
  • Developing a clear understanding of employer challenges, from workforce capability and recruitment through to staff development and retention.
  • Positioning housing apprenticeships as a practical solution to business and workforce needs.
  • Developing new employer partnerships and converting opportunities into apprenticeship business.
  • Engaging with organisations of different sizes, from independent letting agencies to larger housing providers.
  • Building a strong pipeline of prospective clients and managing opportunities through to conversion.
  • Developing longer-term relationships that generate repeat business and sustainable apprenticeship starts.
  • Working with internal teams to ensure training solutions align with employer requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate sales forecasts, CRM records and pipeline reporting.

The focus is on consultative business development: understanding the organisation, identifying where funded learning can add value and developing a solution that makes commercial sense.

What We’re Looking For

Sector knowledge is particularly important for this appointment.

We’re looking for someone who understands housing and property, can speak credibly to employers and knows how to identify opportunities within the market.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience in business development, B2B sales, account development or commercial partnerships.
  • A strong understanding of the housing sector, ideally including housing associations, registered providers, property management or letting agencies.
  • Knowledge of the operational and workforce challenges facing housing organisations.
  • The ability to engage senior stakeholders and develop trusted relationships.
  • Experience identifying client needs and presenting tailored solutions.
  • A track record of generating new business and converting opportunities into revenue.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and commercial skills.
  • The self-motivation to develop a specialist market and work towards ambitious but achievable sales objectives.

Experience selling apprenticeships, funded training, qualifications or workforce development solutions would be advantageous. However, relevant housing sector knowledge combined with proven commercial ability will be particularly attractive.

What’s on Offer?

  • £40,000 basic salary.
  • An excellent commission structure with the opportunity to increase earnings through successful business development.
  • A specialist market with identifiable employer needs.
  • The opportunity to develop partnerships with housing associations and letting agencies across the UK.
  • A funded learning proposition that can help employers address workforce development requirements.
  • The opportunity to work with an excellent manager who understands the funded learning sector and supports the people within their team.

Interested?

If you understand the housing market and can identify opportunities where apprenticeship training offers a genuine solution, I’d like to hear from you.

We’re particularly interested in people who can combine sector credibility with a proven ability to win new business.
