The Role

As a Business Development Manager (New Business Apprenticeship Sales), you’ll be responsible for driving the growth of our client’s Level 3, 4 & 7 Data and AI Apprenticeship programmes.

This is a new business sales role, where you’ll identify fresh employer partnerships, nurture relationships across industries, and oversee apprenticeship growth initiatives. You’ll use cutting-edge sales technology and updated systems to work smarter, not harder—helping employers to embrace apprenticeships and develop the next generation of skilled professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business sales by developing strategies to expand apprenticeship programmes across target industries and regions.
  • Identify, engage, and maintain strong relationships with apprenticeship employer-partners and key stakeholders.
  • Conduct market research to identify industry needs, trends, and opportunities for apprenticeship placements.
  • Use innovative sales techniques and new CRM/software tools to track activity, analyse data, and improve conversion.
  • Lead negotiations with employers—defining programme requirements, expectations, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with marketing to design campaigns and materials that promote apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Support employers and apprentices throughout the apprenticeship lifecycle (recruitment, training, evaluation, certification).
  • Track and analyse performance metrics to recommend improvements.
  • Stay up to date with apprenticeship regulations, policies, and industry best practices.
  • Represent our client at industry events, conferences, and networking forums.
  • Work with the Apprenticeship Management Team to build relationships with educational institutions, industry associations, and government agencies.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or partnership management, ideally within apprenticeships.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship models, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Experience in Data Apprenticeships is highly desirable.
  • Track record of using modern sales techniques, digital tools, and CRM systems to achieve results.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, able to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with a history of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organised and capable of managing multiple projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and sales technology/CRM software.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
  • Passionate about promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Contract & Hours

  • Full-time, Permanent
  • Monday to Friday
  • 40 hours per week
  • Remote

Additional Benefits

  • Up to 34 days of annual leave
  • Company pension scheme
  • Continuous training and professional development
  • Clear opportunities to grow with the organisation
