I’m recruiting on behalf of a leading UK social enterprise that’s driving positive change for people and communities across the country. My client partners with local and central government, as well as major corporate organisations, to deliver programmes that help individuals overcome disadvantage — tackling issues such as fuel poverty, employability, justice, and skills development.
They believe that meaningful partnerships can change lives. By connecting commercial ambition with social purpose, they help people find work, stay warm in their homes, and rebuild their futures after difficult times.
To continue their ambitious growth, they’re seeking a Business Development Manager to identify and secure new partnerships that expand the reach and impact of their work.
The Role
This is a pivotal and growth-focused position where you’ll lead the charge in developing new opportunities with:
-
Government departments and local authorities commissioning social impact programmes.
-
Corporate partners looking to invest in social responsibility initiatives that deliver measurable community outcomes.
-
Third-sector organisations seeking collaborative solutions to systemic social challenges.
You’ll shape and execute strategies to win new funding and partnership opportunities, working closely with internal teams across programme design, delivery, compliance, and operations to ensure successful implementation.
Key Responsibilities
-
Partner Acquisition: Identify, engage, and secure new partnerships with government, corporate, and third-sector organisations.
-
Strategic Growth: Develop and deliver business growth strategies across key social impact areas — including justice, employability, skills, and energy poverty.
-
Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with teams to develop compelling proposals and ensure effective delivery.
-
Commercial & Contractual Negotiation: Lead discussions on funding, partnership models, and commercial terms that create shared value.
-
Pipeline Management: Maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities, managing the full business development cycle from prospecting to bid submission and close.
About You
-
Experience: You’ll bring significant experience (typically 8+ years) in business development, partnership management, or commissioning within government-funded programmes, social enterprises, or CSR-led initiatives.
-
Relationship Builder: Skilled at engaging senior stakeholders across government and corporate sectors, with the credibility to influence and inspire.
-
Strategic Thinker: Able to spot emerging opportunities and design scalable partnership models that deliver real-world impact.
-
Hands-On Operator: Comfortable rolling up your sleeves to shape bids, proposals, and presentations alongside internal experts.
-
Mission-Driven: You’re passionate about social impact and thrive in organisations where purpose and performance go hand in hand.
Why Join?
You’ll be joining a mission-led organisation where commercial growth directly fuels social change. Every partnership you build will help people move forward — whether that’s finding employment, improving their wellbeing, or gaining the skills to thrive.
If you’re a natural connector who believes business can be a force for good, this is an opportunity to make a measurable difference while building a rewarding career.
