This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can build positive relationships with young people, inspire confidence and resilience, and provide the tailored support, guidance and mentoring needed to help learners achieve their full potential.
You will play a key role throughout the learner journey, delivering engaging sessions, providing information, advice and guidance, and offering pastoral support to ensure every young person has the opportunity to progress and succeed.
What you will be doing
- Assess the individual needs, aspirations and circumstances of young people, developing tailored support plans to help them progress into positive destinations, including employment, apprenticeships, education or training.
- Build strong, trusting and professional relationships with learners, using mentoring, coaching and encouragement to develop confidence, resilience, independence and social inclusion.
- Deliver engaging employability, personal development and life skills sessions to prepare young people for the next stage of their journey.
- Provide high-quality information, advice and guidance (IAG), helping learners make informed decisions about their futures and develop realistic, achievable career goals.
- Conduct initial assessments, agree progression targets and create structured action plans, regularly reviewing progress and adapting support to meet changing needs.
- Design and deliver personalised interventions for young people facing barriers to progression, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Provide ongoing pastoral care and practical support, helping learners overcome challenges that may affect their engagement, personal development or future opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with families, employers, partner organisations and multi-agency professionals to ensure learners receive the appropriate support to achieve positive outcomes.
- Maintain accurate learner records, progress reports and management information, ensuring all documentation meets data protection, quality assurance and contractual requirements.
- Work towards agreed performance, quality and compliance targets, contributing to the continued development and improvement of the service.
What we are looking for
We are keen to hear from individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and understand the difference that effective guidance, encouragement and tailored learning can make.
Essential requirements:
- A Level 5 teaching qualification or equivalent.
- Experience delivering teaching and learning in a classroom or group-based environment.
- Previous experience supporting young people, particularly those who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), or who face barriers to progression.
- Experience delivering information, advice and guidance (IAG) and developing structured action plans to support learners towards positive outcomes.
- The ability to engage, motivate and build positive, professional relationships with young people from a range of backgrounds.
- A good understanding of the barriers young people may face when accessing education, employment and training, alongside an awareness of current youth-related challenges.
- Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to meet individual learner needs.
- A supportive, patient and proactive approach, with a genuine commitment to helping young people build confidence and achieve their ambitions.
Desirable qualifications and experience
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- A Level 3 Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) qualification or equivalent.
- A SENCO qualification.
- Experience teaching, mentoring or supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Why consider this opportunity?

You will help learners recognise their strengths, overcome challenges and develop the skills, confidence and direction needed to move towards a positive and sustainable future.
