Employment Specialist

If you have a strong background in employability and enjoy delivering personalised, community-based support, we’d love to hear from you. Experience with vocational profiling and person-centred planning would be an advantage, as would the ability to build positive relationships with both participants and local employers.

Part-time and full-time opportunities are available.

As this is a community-based role covering the North Staffordshire area, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 24 participants, supporting them on their journey into meaningful, sustainable employment.
  • Deliver personalised employment support, including CV writing, job searching, interview preparation and career planning.
  • Complete Vocational Profiles and Action Plans to identify individual strengths, aspirations and employment goals.
  • Work closely with clinical and partner teams to encourage referrals and promote employment as a positive step towards improved wellbeing.
  • Provide ongoing support to both participants and employers to help people succeed and remain in work.
  • Identify suitable employment opportunities through tailored job matching and proactive engagement with local employers.
  • Offer practical advice around benefits, workplace adjustments, health disclosures and other employment-related matters.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation meets quality and compliance standards.

About You

You’ll be someone who genuinely enjoys helping others succeed and thrives in a role where no two days are the same.

You’ll bring:

  • A strong background in employability, careers advice or employment support.
  • A warm, empathetic and approachable manner with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Confidence in managing your own workload and working independently within the community.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, enabling you to engage effectively with participants, employers and partner organisations.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, treating everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Experience of outreach or lone working, with a proactive, flexible and solution-focused approach.
  • The ability to build trust quickly with people from a wide range of backgrounds.

Skills and Experience

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Experience supporting people with complex needs, including those with health conditions or disabilities.
  • The ability to work towards performance targets while maintaining a person-centred approach.
  • Strong coaching and guidance skills, with experience delivering both one-to-one and group support.
  • Knowledge of the local labour market and employment opportunities.
  • Experience within employability, careers guidance, advice or counselling services.
  • An understanding of the barriers people can face when seeking employment and practical ways to overcome them.
  • Awareness of safeguarding, information governance and vocational rehabilitation principles.
