Coyne Recruitment are proud to be partnering with a leading national apprenticeship and training provider to recruit an experienced Head of Business Development to drive growth across the education sector.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious, commercially driven sales leader looking to shape a high-performing business development function whilst taking ownership of one of the fastest-growing markets in apprenticeships. Working as part of the senior commercial leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the organisation’s education growth strategy, leading a team of Business Development Managers whilst personally securing strategic partnerships with some of the UK’s largest education groups.

About the Opportunity
The education sector is undergoing significant workforce transformation, creating increasing demand for high-quality professional development and apprenticeship programmes.
You’ll be responsible for building relationships with:
- Primary Schools
- Secondary Schools
- Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs)
- Independent Schools
- Faith Schools
- Alternative Provision settings
- Specialist education providers
- Wider education organisations
You’ll be promoting an outstanding portfolio of education apprenticeship programmes designed to support workforce development, leadership and school improvement.

The Role
As Head of Business Development, you will:
- Develop and deliver the organisation’s education sales strategy.
- Lead, coach and inspire a high-performing Business Development team.
- Personally secure strategic partnerships with large school groups and Multi-Academy Trusts.
- Drive new business acquisition whilst growing existing customer accounts.
- Build long-term partnerships with education leaders and decision-makers.
- Work closely with Marketing, Curriculum and Delivery teams to maximise commercial opportunities.
- Analyse market trends and identify new routes to market.
- Create scalable sales processes that support continued national growth.
- Lead from the front, setting the standard for commercial excellence.
About You
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- A proven background in apprenticeship sales or education business development.
- Experience selling into Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Multi-Academy Trusts or the wider education sector.
- Previous experience leading and developing successful sales or business development teams.
- A strong understanding of workforce development within education.
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinking combined with a hands-on, commercially driven approach.
- The ability to influence senior leaders including CEOs, Executive Heads, Trust CEOs and School Business Leaders.
- Passion, resilience and the ambition to build something exceptional.
