We are recruiting on behalf of a Grade 2 independent training provider with a strong national footprint and a reputation for delivering high-quality training and development programmes.
Our client is entering an exciting phase of growth and is seeking an experienced Head of Commercial & Marketing to lead and integrate all commercial functions, driving revenue, strengthening employer partnerships, and enhancing market presence.
This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Director and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team.
The Role
The Head of Commercial & Marketing will take full accountability for commercial performance across the organisation. This includes revenue growth, forecasting, employer engagement, sales performance, and marketing effectiveness.
The successful candidate will bring together employer engagement, business development, and marketing into a single, aligned commercial strategy—ensuring a consistent and measurable approach to pipeline generation, conversion, and retention.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Performance
- Lead the development and delivery of the overall commercial strategy
- Own and deliver revenue targets across all streams
- Oversee forecasting, pipeline management, and risk mitigation
- Ensure alignment between commercial growth and operational delivery
- Report on performance to the Managing Director and Board
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead multi-functional teams across sales, marketing, and employer engagement
- Set and monitor clear KPIs aligned to commercial objectives
- Promote collaboration and accountability across teams
- Develop capability and succession within the commercial function
Pipeline & Growth Management
- Oversee the full commercial lifecycle from lead generation through to retention
- Improve conversion rates and pipeline efficiency
- Ensure effective use of data to inform decision-making
- Monitor employer engagement, retention, and lifetime value
Marketing & Brand
- Lead marketing strategy to directly support revenue and sector priorities
- Oversee campaign performance, brand positioning, and market presence
- Ensure marketing activity delivers measurable return on investment
- Align marketing outputs with sales capacity and organisational priorities
Employer Engagement
- Develop and secure high-value employer partnerships
- Lead senior-level commercial negotiations
- Build long-term relationships across key sectors
- Strengthen the organisation’s position within the market
Candidate Profile
Experience
- Significant experience in a senior commercial leadership role
- Proven track record of delivering revenue growth and managing complex pipelines
- Experience leading cross-functional teams across sales and marketing
- Demonstrable success in aligning marketing activity to commercial outcomes
- Experience within education, training, or apprenticeships is desirable
